Pawley Institute has moved to the Macomb-OU INCubator

The Oakland University Pawley Lean Institute (PLI) has moved to a new location at the Macomb-OU INCubator in Sterling Heights, Mich.

With high hopes of bringing the benefits of Lean to even more community members and local businesses, the Institute set up shop amongst growing businesses at the INCubator, located in the Technology Advancement SmartZone of Sterling Heights.

A resource for Lean learning available to students, professionals and educators, the PLI has been sharing concepts and practices of Lean thinking to create leaders and learners in the university, public and private sectors, and the community since its founding in 2002.

This move has opened up the opportunity for the PLI to provide Lean trainings for INCubator and Macomb County companies as well as connect these companies with Lean student interns.

"With companies being asked to do more and more with less, there is always the fear of losing good people," said Julianne Leigh, director of budget and the PLI. "We believe that through the application of Lean principles and practices, business can truly start building sustainability for long-term success."

Amanda Benjamin, PLI site administrator, has the role of managing the new PLI offices and room rentals at Macomb-OU INC.

"One of the greatest benefits of the Pawley Institute moving to the Macomb-OU INCubator is being able to better connect students with businesses for Lean internships or class projects," Benjamin said. "Providing students with this hand-on experience will significantly improve their Lean knowledge and skills."

The Macomb-OU Incubator is located on 18 Mile Road between Vandyke and Mound roads.
