OU Students and Faculty Contribute to the World Stem Cell Summit

Oakland University students and researchers made important contributions to the 2010 World Stem Cell Summit, held in Detroit this week. OU was a Science & Education Partner for this meeting, and two OU faculty members—Rasul Chaudhry (Dept. Biological Sciences) and Sumit Dinda (School of Health Sciences)—served on the meeting program committee. At the second day of the meeting, Provost Virinder Moudgil announced the establishment of the Oakland University William Beaumont Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.

Below are listed several poster presentations from OU. In particular, many undergraduate and graduate students were coauthors on these posters and attended the meeting. These student-researchers represented Oakland well, and are some of the young scientists who will use stem cells to cure diseases and alleviate suffering in the coming decades.
