High school seniors learn more about OU at Go for the Gold

High school seniors considering attending Oakland University next fall have the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to be Golden Grizzlies during Go for the Gold from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms.

“We want the students to learn as much as they can about our academic programs, first-year success programs and opportunities to get involved so they can make a successful transition from high school to college,” said Dawn Aubry, associate director of admissions.

Students are invited to attend with their parents because, according to Aubry, parents and their student need to work together to make decisions about where to go to college — it’s one of the most important decisions in the student’s life.

Go for the Gold is the student’s first comprehensive look at the university. Students and parents are invited to attend sessions that include information about admissions, requirements, orientation, next steps, housing and campus life.

The program will contain information about OU’s first-year success programs like Communication 101, Connections, Jump Start, My FYE, the C.L.A.W. series and the First-Year Transition Workshops. A panel of OU students also will share information about their first-year experiences at OU.
