Graham Health Center to administer flu vaccines this fall

Influenza can be unpredictable, as indicated by last year's records. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) now recommends a universal vaccination for all persons age 6 months and older. The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.

With the 2010-11 flu season approaching, Oakland University’s Graham Health Center (GHC) is offering injectable and nasal mist flu vaccines that protect against three different viruses: H3N2, H1N1 and influenza B. Both vaccines are safe and effective.

Representatives from GHC will be available to administer flu vaccine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, Thursday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 20. Evening clinics at residence halls will also be offered at the end of October.

To receive a flu vaccination, make an appointment by calling GHC at 248-370-2341.

Walk-ins are accepted Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. All vaccinations cost $20 if not covered by insurance, though most insurance plans are accepted.

For more information, visit the OU Infection Prevention Control website or call GHC at (248) 370-2341.
