Meadow Brook Writing Project to host tech-friendly education workshops

Starting in September, the Meadow Brook Writing Project will host a series of workshops designed to provide area educators with the tools and skills to integrate new media technologies into traditional classroom instruction.

The “Tech Thursday” workshops will take place on the second Thursday of each month and will be facilitated by OU faculty and local teachers who are experts at combining conventional teaching methods with 21st-century digital technologies, including podcasting, digital storytelling, VoiceThread and social networking. The six two-hour workshops will alternate between Oakland University’s campus in Rochester and the Macomb University Center, located in Clinton Township.

The workshops are supported, in part, by a grant from the National Writing Project’s Technology Liaison Network. The cost is $30 per workshop and all OU faculty and local teachers are invited to attend. All participants will be entered in an end-of-the-year raffle to win a Flip Video Camcorder.
