Muddy Buddy event draws American Marketing Association volunteers
Members of Oakland University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) volunteered at the Muddy Buddy Ride & Run event on July 12 at Stony Creek Metro Park. Sponsored by Columbia Sportswear, the event drew hundreds of participants who ran, biked and completed an obstacle course in a mud pit.
A portion of the proceeds benefited the Challenged Athletes Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people with physical disabilities pursue an active lifestyle through physical fitness and competitive athletics.
Members of Oakland’s AMA Executive Board volunteered their time by directing traffic, checking in the participants and cheering on the athletes, many of whom were clad in costumes throughout the entire six-mile course and in the mud pit.
“There was an informal costume contest among the participants and some pairs got really creative,” said Angela Venditti, director of Public Relations and Communications for Oakland’s AMA chapter. “We had a lot of fun volunteering and giving back to the community.”
Oakland’s AMA chapter participates in various community events each year. For more information, contact AMA President Brittany Wright at bwright@oakland.edu.
