OU community to prepare for summertime Squirrel Road construction

A major project involving reconstruction of Squirrel Road from Featherstone to Walton Blvd. will be getting under way on Monday, May 10. Initially, this will involve the marking of utilities and placement of warning signage and traffic barricades. The delivery of construction equipment and preparation work is expected to follow quickly.

During the first phase of construction, which is expected to last through late June, the main entrance to campus will be open only to traffic coming onto campus. All traffic leaving campus will need to exit on Walton Blvd. or Adams Road. Additionally, access to Pioneer Drive and Parking Lot P-1 from Squirrel Road will be closed until late summer. Finally, commuters should anticipate intermittent lane closures on Squirrel Road throughout this year’s construction season.

It is recommended that to the extent possible, commuters plan to use campus entrances located on Walton Blvd. and Adams Road. Students, university employees and visitors are encouraged to monitor the News @ OU, oakland.edu/newsatou, for the latest updates on road and campus entrance closures, as well as suggested alternate routes.
