OU ALERT: Emergency management training exercise in progress
Posted 9:20 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2010
This is a TEST of the emergency notification system at Oakland
University. In the event of an actual campus emergency, an article like this
one would provide updates on the
situation. Please note, THIS IS ONLY A TEST.
This test is part of a full-scale emergency management TRAINING EXERCISE
now taking place in the general area of Wilson Boulevard and
Meadow Brook Road. This morning, you may see
responding police, fire and emergency medical service agencies
SIMULATING an emergency response on campus. Please note, this is a
TRAINING EXERCISE ONLY and not an actual emergency. Some partial road
closures may be in effect.
The
OUPD and numerous other local, state and federal law enforcement and
emergency preparedness agencies have been planning this event for more
than a year. Supported by a U.S. Department of Education grant, it will
involve:
Rochester Police and Fire Departments
Auburn Hills Police and Fire Departments
Rochester Hills Fire Department
Oakland County Sheriff
Oakland County Homeland Security Division
Michigan State Police
FBI
ATF
OU student, staff and faculty participants
This
type of training is invaluable in helping OU enhance our overall
emergency preparedness initiatives. Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing commitment to campus safety.
