Music Preparatory Division announces Spring/Summer 2010 Class Schedule
The Oakland University Music Preparatory Division will offer Early Childhood Music and Piano Readiness classes, as well as private lessons, during the spring/summer term.
Our Musical World – Bluebirds is a lively movement-based class for toddlers and a caregiver to sing, laugh, bounce, dance, play instruments, and create music together. Join us as we engage in a wide range of music and musical experience, building on what children already know to explore new musical worlds. Provides a strong basis for future musical study and for enjoying music in life! Classes for ages 18 months-3 years (with parent or adult caregiver present) will be held Tuesdays 12:15-1:00 p.m.
All Around My Musical World – Robins provides an opportunity for children to explore music from around the world developing their natural curiosity about music in a playful, encouraging environment. Join us as we explore music from around the world through singing, listening, moving, dancing, drumming, playing instruments, and learning authentic musical games. Classes for ages 3-1/2 to 5 years (without parent or adult caregiver) will be held Tuesdays 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Piano Readiness classes, for beginners ages 4-5 years and 6-7 years, as well as more advanced students, incorporate opportunities for peer support. Students learn through musical problem solving and develop musical understanding that leads to musical competence and confidence. Learning together makes the experience friendly and fun.
Private lessons are available for students of ALL ages on piano, voice, woodwinds, brass, strings, guitar and percussion instruments. Students are encouraged to attend 13 lessons, with some flexibility allowed to accommodate for camps and vacations. Lessons begin on May 3 and end on August 29.
