OU softball coach Glenn MacDonald retires, leaves a winning legacy
Oakland University softball coach Glenn MacDonald has retired from coaching, rounding off a career as the all-time winningest coach in program history with a record of 92-134 in four-plus seasons.
“We thank Glenn for all his hard work and dedication over the last nine years here at Oakland University,” said Tracy Huth, director of Athletics. “We wish him well in the future.”
MacDonald was the 2006 Mid-Con Coach of the Year and led his teams to two straight league tournaments, falling in the championship game in 2007. He posted winning records in three of four seasons inside league play and finished with an overall record of 40-44 in Summit League play.
He was also part of back-to-back conference titles in 2002 and 2003 as the top assistant coach, making NCAA tournaments in both those seasons.
“I really enjoyed my time at Oakland University,” said MacDonald. “I want to thank Tracy Huth for the opportunity to coach collegiate softball. I have forged many great relationships during my time here and know that the girls will be successful on and off the diamond as they move forward in their lives.”
Assistant Coach Jane Zimmerman will serve as the interim coach for the remainder of the season.
