Summit League Basketball Tournament Update – Watch parties planned!
Summit League Tournament play begins this Saturday, March 6, at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Oakland University’s No. 1 seeded men’s basketball team and No. 2 seeded women’s basketball team will be competing for a chance at championship titles - and NCAA berths - during final games on Tuesday, March 9.
If the women’s basketball team advances to the championship game, they will play at 4 p.m. EST Tuesday afternoon. If the men’s basketball team advances to the championship game, they will play at 9 p.m. EST Tuesday evening.
If either team makes it to the final round on Tuesday, the Oakland University Alumni Association invites all alumni, friends, faculty and staff to gather at local watch parties to cheer on the Golden Grizzlies! The women’s watch party will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the men’s watch party will begin at 8:30 p.m., both at Buffalo Wilds Wings in Rochester Hills at the corner of Livernois and Walton. Buffalo Wild Wings will feature wings specials and also late night happy hour specials after 10 p.m.
For those alumni and friends who are unable to join us at Buffalo Wild Wings, the women’s game will be televised on ESPNU and the men’s game will be televised on ESPN2.
The winner of the Summit League Championship earns an automatic NCAA Tournament berth. For the most up-to-date information on all post-season play, visit the OU Athletics website at www.ougrizzlies.com.
