Campus telephone service will be interrupted on Sunday, Feb. 21
Between noon and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, operation of the Oakland University telephone system will be interrupted by periodic outages lasting up to an hour each. During these outages, main campus phones will not be available for incoming, outgoing and emergency calls, as well as for access to voicemail.
Because Oakland University Police Department phones will be affected, anyone experiencing an emergency during this period is advised to dial (248) 373-3015 or (248) 373-0117 from a cell phone. While 911 call services will be available to cell phone users, dialing these direct line numbers allows for more efficient call routing while on campus.
Phone service interruptions on the main campus are necessary because the system requires critical maintenance and repair. Sites on East Campus, including John Dodge House, Sunset Terrace, Meadow Brook Hall, golf course offices and Shotwell Pavilion will not be affected, but calls from these locations will not be connected to main campus phones during outages.
University administrators scheduled the maintenance window on a weekend during winter break to minimize disruption to faculty, students and staff. Campus telephone users who experience problems with service after this period should contact the Help Desk at (248) 370-4357.
The OU telephone system will be interrupted by periodic outages between noon and 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21.
