Scholarships available to children, grandchildren of OU alumni

The Oakland University Alumni Association (OUAA) is now accepting applications for its 2010-2011 Legacy scholarship.

The award is open to any child or grandchild of an Oakland alumnus or alumna who is currently an OUAA member. Applicants must be high school seniors who have been admitted and plan to attend OU for their freshman year. Freshman students who plan to attend the university during their sophomore year also are eligible for the award.

Additionally, award recipients must be continuous, full-time students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester for the duration of the award and hold a cumulative high school or undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 or a minimum ACT score of 21.

Applications will be considered based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community activities. An essay and two letters of recommendation are also required.

Those interested should submit their application to the Alumni Relations Office in John Dodge House no later than March 1. For more information, contact Alumni Relations at (248) 364-6130.
