Cub College Winter 2010


The Oakland University Department of Pre-College Programs’ Cub College provides Saturday, on-campus programs to middle and high school students in the Detroit metropolitan area. The programs, which range from enhancing study and test-taking skills to ACT preparation, are designed to prepare students for academic success.

Six Saturdays:

Core Academic Preparation

February 27 – April 3, 2010

April 10 – May 15, 2010

 

Study/Test-Taking Skills

Learn how to control anxiety and deal with pressure. This course teaches students how to properly study and prepare for tests with stress-reducing and confidence-building strategies.

 

Middle and high school                      9 – 11 a.m.                                            $150

Literacy Development

This course will help students improve reading skills that will enable them to comprehend, analyze and communicate ideas.

 

Grades 7 and 8                                     9 – 11 a.m.                                            $150

Math

Students will learn to solve problems eectively and think critically by enhancing computational skills and other math related skills.

 

Math Skills Development

Algebra I/Algebra II

High school                                           9 – 11 a.m.                                            $150

 Five Saturdays:

ACT Preparation

April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8

Each of the following classes will target specific sections of the ACT for review, and practice testing with the real ACT Prep Guide.

 

ACT – Math

Grades 10 – 12                                                 9 – 11 a.m.                            $170

Students must register at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class. Each class has a minimum required enrollment that must be reached prior to the first session to avoid cancellation.

 

REGISTRATION ONLINE

Students may also register for courses online. Payment methods include online checking or savings account (ACH), debit and credit card. Click  Here to register.  

 

CHANGES IN REGISTRATION

Students/Parents must complete a Tuition Refund/Withdrawal form available in Pre-College Programs (106 NFH).  Withdrawal or refund requests are not accepted by phone. There is a $10 processing charge for all course withdrawals.

 

Refund amounts are based upon the day the request is received (Tuition Refund/Withdrawal form or in writing). Withdrawals prior to the start of classes are 100 percent refundable; withdrawals after the first class meeting and before the second class are 90 percent refundable. No refunds will be granted after the second class meeting. Full tuition is refunded if a course is cancelled by Oakland University. Otherwise, charges are not refunded. Refunds take approximately 2-4 weeks to process through the business office.

 

NOTE: Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be made up. Listen to radio station WWJ 950 AM, WJR 760 AM, or tune into WJBK-TV FOX 2, WDIV-TV Channel 4, WXYZ-TV Channel 7 for official school closure information.

 

The Department of Pre-College Programs reserves the right to cancel courses or programs, adjust tuition, or change instructors for courses listed in this packet.
