OU community raises $6,900 for Haiti relief efforts
The Oakland University community showed its generous spirit during a recent campus benefit to help support relief efforts in Haiti. Organized by Oakland’s own 88.3 FM WXOU radio, “Haiti-palooza” was held Wednesday, Jan. 20, and raised a grand total of $6,900, including a $3,400 matching contribution from OU president Gary Russi.
The proceeds from the event will be donated to four charities:
American Red Cross - $3272.08
Salvation Army - $2,199.82
Partners in Heath – $788.85
Doctors Without Borders – $561.02
All the funds will be sent directly to the local or national headquarters of each organization.
