Oakland University builds on homecoming tradition by expanding celebration activities
Rochester, Mich. – Oakland University is inviting students, current and former employees, university supporters and the community as a whole to celebrate its continuing growth and success during “Come Home to OU.”
This year’s homecoming celebration promises to be bigger and better than ever, with new events that expand festivities from two days to four starting on Thursday, Feb. 4.
“Come Home to OU” includes an OU Homecoming Pep Rally, a Hip Hop Dance Competition, a Winter Ice Skating Party and Bonfire, a Friday Night Live Comedy Show, the Snow Bowl flag football game and, of course, the highlight events – OU men’s and women’s basketball games against Oral Roberts University. The first 100 fans to arrive for the women’s game will receive free admission to both games and the first 600 attendees will receive OU giveaways.
Other events include the OU Alumni Association Family Festival, tailgating with the Alumni Hospitality Tent, a Casino and the Golden Grizzlies Homecoming 5K Run/Walk. Registration for the run/walk is $15 for OU students and $20 for the general public. An awards ceremony will take place in the O’rena immediately following the race.
