ISSO offers Host Family information session Jan. 8

Oakland University’s International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) will be holding an information session on its Host Family Program from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan 8, in the Oakland Center Gold Rooms.

OU students, faculty and staff are invited to come learn about the program, which pairs American families with international students to help ease their transition to a new country and culture. Additionally, past and present host families are encouraged to share their experiences and thoughts about the program.

“The Host Family Program at OU is an incredible way for our international students not only to learn about American culture but also experience it first hand,” said Sehar Kazi, ISSO graduate assistant and host family coordinator. “Our host families become great resources for these students and also enjoy learning about their country and culture.”

Applications for the Host Family program must be returned by Saturday, Dec. 16.

Refreshments will be provided at the event. For more information, view the flyer or contact Kazi at skazi@oakland.edu or (248) 370-3608.
