Manufacturing Diversification Summit comes to OU on Dec. 16

In partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and several area community organizations, Oakland University and Oakland Community College will host the Oakland County Manufacturing Diversification Summit from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

The event, which will take place in the Oakland Center on the campus of Oakland University, will welcome experts in aerospace, contracting/defense, medical devices and advanced energy.

With access to market data, industry experts and resource providers, summit participants can learn more about applying their specialized machinery and know-how in the in the manufacture of products in these industries, which combined represent $400 billion in annual expenditures..

The event is one of 12 the MEDC planned for 2009 with the goal of giving state manufacturers insights and tools they need to branch into these promising industries.

Partners in the upcoming summit include the cities of Rochester Hills, Madison Heights, Auburn Hills and Southfield, as well as the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Oakland County Michigan Business Center.
