New mascot "Clawzz" joins The Grizz on the home court this season

Beloved Oakland University mascot, The Grizz, will have company at a number of campus sporting events this season as OU Athletics recently unveiled a new mascot to help rev up excitement among friends and fans. The fierce, high-flying, basketball-dunking “Clawzz” made his debut in the O’rena before a crowd of Grizzly faithful Saturday, Nov. 14, when the Men’s basketball team played host to Eastern Michigan.

“Clawzz is a new teammate and friend,” said Kate Boylan, coordinator of Athletics Marketing and Promotions at Oakland. “He will work alongside and complement the Grizz.”

Clawzz will accompany The Grizz at numerous Men’s and Women’s basketball games throughout the season. Fans can catch the dynamic duo in the O’rena at the following home games:

Saturday, Dec. 13 - Women vs. Purdue- 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 2 - Women vs. IUPUI- 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 2- Men vs. IUPUI- 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 14 - Men vs. UMKC- 7:00 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 18 - Women vs. UMKC- 6:30 p.m.
Monday, Feb. 22 - Women vs. SDSU- 6:30 p.m.
