How much did you get out of your education: Planned Giving update

Oakland University receives a portion of its philanthropic support from planned gifts made by generous alumni, friends and parents. These gifts provide scholarships, endowed chairs, capital improvements and resources to support academic excellence, as well as create a dynamic living and learning community.

You can increase your annual income, receive a charitable income tax deduction and avoid taxes on your capital gains – while supporting Oakland University. When you make a commitment through your will, or other deferred gifts, you become a member of OU’s Heritage Society and establish the university as your legacy.

During 2009, individuals aged 70 ½ and older can make a gift directly from their IRA to Oakland.  By visiting our planned giving Website, you can learn more and use our gift calculator to help you envision the financial benefits of supporting Oakland University.

For more information or to discuss your options, please contact Pat Zawadzki, director of Planned Giving, at (248) 364-6129 or zawadzki@oakland.edu.
