OU’s purchase of green vehicles helps advance goal of environmental friendliness


What: Oakland University has welcomed new green vehicles to campus, namely three trucks that emit zero emissions. With a payload capacity of more than 1,000 pounds, they are both functional and environmentally friendly.

Who: Facilities personnel hope to save as much as $2,500 annually on the cost of gas and maintenance for each vehicle. The trucks are able to charge from a standard 110v outlet and boast regenerative breaking and a battery life of 25,000 miles.

Where: Oakland University campus

When: They’re in use on campus now.

Why: As interest grows in environmental sustainability and cost efficiency during economically challenging times, the university is finding and using products that help advance these goals.
