Medical Physics Graduate Publishes Dissertation in Stroke
Kishor Karki graduated from Oakland University in 2008 with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences:Medical Physics. In the October 2009 issue of the journal Stroke, Karki published part of his dissertation research: Simvastatin and Atorvastatin Improve Neurological Outcome After Experimental Intracerebral Hemorrhage (Volume 40, Pages 3384-3389). Karki's mentors were Adjunct faculty member Robert Knight (himself a 1991 graduate of the OU medical physics program) and Distinguished Professor Mike Chopp. The research looked at the use of statins (commonly known as Zocor and Lipitor) to improve the recovery from a stroke.
