Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 as the Golden Grizzlies men’s and women’s basketball teams celebrate the official start of the college basketball season. The evening will begin with a Friday Night Live comedy show in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms at 7 p.m., followed by a Block Party outside the O’rena at 8:30 p.m. and then a Pep Rally from 10 to 11 p.m. in the O’rena to introduce all Golden Grizzlies athletes and coaches.

There will be free food, a DJ and dancing, special performances by the OU dance and cheer teams, Hooper and the Flight Crew from the Detroit Pistons, and hundreds of fan giveaways.
The first 1,000 fans to arrive at the Pep Rally will receive a free, limited-edition OU giveaway. After the Pep Rally, stick around to watch the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Challenge where four students will test their taste buds to determine who can stand the heat of the hottest wings around!

There is no cost to attend any of the evening’s festivities, so get your family and friends together and join in on the fun! For more information, contact Kate Boylan at burke23@oakland.edu or (248) 364-3161.
