Go for the Gold introduces future students to campus Oct. 10

High school seniors considering attending Oakland University in the fall have an opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to be a Golden Grizzly during Go for the Gold. The event is set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Oakland Center.

“We want students to learn as much as they can about our academic programs, first-year success programs and opportunities to get involved so they can make a successful transition from high school to college,” said Dawn Aubry, associate director of undergraduate admissions.

Students are invited to attend with their parents because they often work together to make decisions about where to go to college — it’s one of the most important decisions in the student’s life.

Go for the Gold is the student’s first comprehensive look at the university. Guests are invited to attend sessions that include information about admissions, requirements, orientation, next steps, housing and campus life.

The program will contain information about OU’s first-year success programs like COM 101, Connections, My FYE and the Continued Learning & Advancement Workshops (CLAW) series. A panel of OU students also will share information about their first-year experiences at OU.
