CFO of the U.S. Government Accountability Office to speak at OU

The Master of Public Administration Program at Oakland University and the American Society for Public Administration - Detroit Metropolitan Chapter will host Sallyanne Harper, chief administrative officer and chief financial officer for the U.S. Government Accountability Office, in a presentation set for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

In her current position, Harper is responsible for hiring talented staff and managing department responsibilities related to investigative work required by Congress.

A graduate of LaSalle University and George Washington University, Harper worked in procurement and contracting with the U.S. Navy, served as chief financial officer with the Environmental Protection Agency and joined the GAO in January 2000.

A non-partisan agency that oversees the spending of taxpayer dollars, the GAO has consistently won praise as one of the best places to work in Washington, D.C. A staff of more than 3,000 people compiles and issues high-profile reports on a variety of matters such as Operation Iraqi Freedom and the implementation of the $700 billion financial bailout.

During her visit to OU, Harper will speak on the topic of “Ensuring Accountability in a Time of Financial and Fiscal Stress.” The presentation, free and open to all, will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Oakland Center Gold Rooms.
