OU works with the city and county to reduce deer related auto accidents
Oakland University is partnering with Oakland County and the City of Rochester Hills to reduce the number of deer related car accidents in the area. They are clearing brush and shrubs around the outskirts of campus, specifically near Avon and Adams roads.
By creating an area of increased visibility, the group hopes to reduce traffic accidents. Currently, groups of workers and community service volunteers are working to clear the area.
“If we can reduce the number of accidents by 50 percent, that is a tremendous number of accidents avoided,” said Terry Stollsteimer, associate vice president for facilities management.
Drivers are warned to use extra caution while travelling near campus and its borders, as the number of deer related auto accidents is on the rise.
