Engineering and computer science career fair set for Sept. 22
Oakland University’s Career Services department is joining forces with Lawrence Technological University to host the Tech X 2 Career Expo from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms.
This is the third annual expo that provides employers with the opportunity to meet quality students in the fields of engineering and computer science from both OU and LTU.
More than 30 companies will attend, including Aflac, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the U.S. Navy, Bosch, DTE Energy, Ford Motor Company and the Peace Corps.
“It is ever so critical for students to take advantage of every opportunity to meet with company representatives during this difficult economy,” said Wayne Thibodeau, director of Career Services at Oakland. “Competition is great, but students can use this opportunity to market their experiences, creativity and the value they can add to an organization.”
Career Services is also hosting the Fall Career Fair for business and liberal arts students from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms. At least 20 companies will attend.
Students should dress professionally, bring copies of their resume and prepare a 30 second elevator speech to use when meeting company representatives to market their skills and discuss future career goals.
