Changes made to important dates in Fall 2009 academic calendar
University administrators have made changes to the Important Dates section of the Fall 2009 Academic Calendar due to the late start of classes this semester. Late registration, the add/drop period, refund deadlines and tentative bill due dates have been extended. Those interested can learn more by visiting the Office of the Registrar’s calendar Web site.
A number of considerations were deemed top priorities as decisions were being made relative to the academic calendar. These included:
Delivering a full course of instruction during the fall semester
Preserving a study day before finals
Avoiding disruption and inconvenience caused by extending the semester into the holiday break
Allowing seniors to graduate on schedule
Ensuring that students can reasonably manage their studies despite the late start.
University faculty will be able to provide a complete course of instruction by making efficient use of available class time and providing additional instruction through Moodle, tutorials or additional class meetings. Meanwhile, students are encouraged to take advantage of instructors’ office hours and academic support services offered at OU.
Students who feel overwhelmed by any academic challenges that may arise are encouraged to speak with their instructors, academic department deans or the dean of students to get the help they need.
Late registration, the add/drop period, refund deadlines and tentative bill due dates have been extended.
