Events to highlight leadership opportunities for first-year students

Oakland University will be sponsoring three free events aimed at helping first-year students discover a wide array of leadership opportunities. The Center for Student Activities (CSA) and OU Housing will co-host an Eco Expo from noon-5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 in the Vandenberg Dining Center located in Vandenberg Hall. The event will focus on the environment and green living.

In addition, CSA and OU Housing are teaming up for the Making a Difference community clean-up event from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Baldwin Center in Pontiac. Participants will meet at 9 a.m. in OU’s Vandenberg Lounge for bagels and juice before being transported by bus to the Baldwin Center. The event will highlight diverse opportunities for community service.

CSA will host this year’s Jump Start event from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in the Oakland Center Banquet Rooms. The event will feature a lively, interactive discussion on the topic of leadership. The deadline to sign up is Friday, Aug. 21.
