OUCARES is the charity of choice for rock band Foreigner

The Oakland University Center for Autism Research, Education and Support (OUCARES) stands to receive generous financial support thanks to one of the best-known music acts of the past thirty years.

British-American rock band Foreigner will take the stage Wednesday, August 12 at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights to promote sales of their latest CD release and donate the proceeds of the CD sales to OUCARES, an organization devoted to enhancing the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. Donations will support the mission of OUCARES, which includes providing extracurricular classes and camps for children with autism, promoting research into Autism Spectrum Disorder and raising awareness in the community.

OUCARES integrates academic course work, knowledge and research with hands-on work in the community to prepare professionals to be leaders in the autism community. Through these academic and service programs, Oakland University also provides supportive individual and family programs. OUCARES, housed in the School of Education and Human Services, encourages the exchange of ideas relating to the education and support of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder as well as provides services and support needed to improve daily living.
