SBA courses help build confidence with computer-based office skills
Job seekers and career-minded individuals can brush up on their Microsoft Office skills through training programs offered by the School of Business Administration at Oakland University.
Beginning and advanced courses can help prospective employees learn the skills they need in today’s marketplace, as well as validate their skills for future or current employers.
The SBA courses use a lecture format and hands-on, in-class projects to introduce or advance participants’ skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. The courses are open to all regardless of skill level, educational background or previous experience.
The Level 1 course introduces students to fundamentals of computing concepts in a Windows-based environment, as well as using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Classes will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from Sept. 12 through Oct. 17 on the OU campus.
The Level 2 course builds on students’ computer skills and knowledge to deliver intermediate and advanced capabilities in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Classes will take place from 9 a.m. to noon from Oct. 24 through Dec. 5.
Certificates will be awarded to those who successfully complete the courses.
A free online assessment allows participants to determine the course that best fits their needs and skill levels. To complete the assessment, get more information or register, visit www.sba.oakland.edu/ce or call (248) 370-3177. Registration begins Aug. 1.
