Gain competence and confidence with computer-based office skills courses

Registration Begins: August 1

Job seekers and career-minded individuals can check out the SBA’s programs to brush up on basic skills through the Microsoft Office training programs.

Beginning and Advanced Office skills courses can help prospective employees learn the skills they need to have in today’s basic professional settings and validate skills for future or current employers. Courses in the SBA use a lecture format as well as a hands-on, in-class project(s) to introduce or advance participant’s skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. The course is open to all, regardless of skill level, educational background or previous experience.

Level 1 introduces students to fundamentals of computing concepts in a Windows-based environment, using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Courses are Saturdays from September 12 through October 17, 9 a.m. to noon, on the OU campus.

Level 2 builds on students’ computer skills and knowledge to deliver intermediate and advanced capabilities in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.  Courses are Saturdays from October 24 through December 5, from 9 a.m. to noon on the OU campus.

Certificates of satisfactory completion will be awarded to those who successfully complete the course.

A free online assessment offers participants to determine the course that best fits their needs and skill levels. To complete the assessment, get more information or register, visit www.sba.oakland.edu/ce or call (248) 370-3177.
