Credit analysis certificate program identifies risks and warning signs
The continuing fallout from today’s financial crisis means business professionals need to be more proficient than ever at understanding and assessing both financial and non-financial warning signs in corporate reporting.
In a six-week course designed for credit analysts and other financial and business professionals, Oakland University's School of Business Administration will address credit analysis from multiple perspectives including diagnostic issues and risk analysis in credit assessments, led by Austin Murphy, finance professor and security valuation expert.
Participants will earn a certificate in credit analysis after completing this streamlined, accredited university course.
“As business opportunities become more competitive and credit analysis becomes more complex, the need to refine tools, skills and understanding among professionals is increasing dramatically,” said Murphy, who specializes in investments across the globe.
Murphy has published more than 50 articles in leading journals, including “An Analysis of the Financial Crisis of 2008: Causes and Solutions,” one of the Social Science Research Network’s top ten downloaded papers from the Journal of Real Estate. Murphy is also the author of three books and has developed expert financial software to evaluate many different investments.
The course runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every other Saturday from August 1 to September 26. Students can sign up to attend in person or through WebEx Web conferencing. For more information or to register, visit the Web site.
The SBA will offer a six-week course this summer to address credit analysis from multiple perspectives including diagnostic issues and risk analysis in credit assessments.
