Distinguished Professor Mike Chopp Uses Stem Cells to Treat Stroke

Distinguished Professor Michael Chopp and his coauthors, including adjunct faculty member Zheng Gang Zhang and Biomedical Sciences: Medical Physics graduate student Ben Buller, are using stem cells to treat stroke. Their report in the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (Bone Marrow Stromal Cells Increase Oligodendrogenesis After Stroke, Volume 29, Pages 1166-1174, 2009) describes their most recent results. Chopp's laboratory at Henry Ford Hospital is a leading center for stroke research, and is funded by multiple grants from the National Institutes of Health.
