The Science and Engineering Building was evacuated Friday morning after a sprinkler head in the fire suppression system malfunctioned. As a precautionary measure, the system is engineered to initiate an evacuation under such circumstances.
The Oakland University Police Department, the Auburn Hills Fire Department and Environmental Health and Safety staff responded to the alarm and secured the building while university facilities maintenance personnel worked to correct the situation.
