Summer Update from the AAAP Coordinator

Greetings from the Alumni Admissions Ambassador Program!

Future students and parents hear the value of an OU experience firsthand from Alumni Admissions Ambassadors. From October 2007 through June 4, 2009 over 5,000 points of contact have been made by event ambassadors while retrieving nearly 400 contact cards from prospective students. With the increased fall applications and admittances in out-of-state markets, the AAAP has made an impact!

As of June 4, 2009, nearly 100 active ambassadors have participated in at least one event to total over 320 volunteer service hours at 76 undergraduate recruiting events. Approximately 33% of active ambassadors have volunteered multiple times. In-state ambassadors have teamed up with undergraduate admissions advisers at college fairs throughout the state of Michigan and have enhanced the personal connections with students and families. Ambassadors have also returned to campus and participated as hosts and speakers during 18 on campus recruitment events consisting of Welcome Receptions, campus-wide recruitment events, Transfer Open Houses, and high school group visits.

Thank you for your involvement and dedication in this growing group of alumni who are serving the university in the community and enhancing Oakland’s presence on a national level. The fall 2009 college fair season is approaching and I look forward to working with you in promoting the value and affordability of an Oakland University education in your community.
