New Meadow Brook Hall tour highlights privileged life of the Wilsons

Visitors to Meadow Brook Hall this summer will get a glimpse into the privileged life of the Wilsons from the beginning of their life together to the development of Meadow Brook Farms and the building of the grand estate that is Meadow Brook Hall.

“Visitors often forget when they are surrounded by the immense beauty of the Hall that a family actually lived in this space,” said Meredith Long, museum services coordinator. “We are exploring the real life and the day to day of the Wilsons; the life their wealth afforded them but also the sense of duty and responsibility that came along with it.”

Objects from the Hall’s collection that are not usually on display will be brought out of storage to help tell the story of the life and times of one of the automotive aristocracy’s most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson.

Guests also will get a rare opportunity to tour the staff wing and see how the staff lived and worked.

Visitors can tour the estate Monday through Sunday at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Reservations are not required. Tour admission is $15 for adults and $10 for seniors. Children age 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
