Assistant Professor Cheryl Riley-Doucet Publishes in the Journal of Gerontological Nursing.

Caring for the elderly with dementia can be difficult. Cheryl Riley-Doucet, an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing, published a pilot study Use of Multisensory Environments in the Home for People with Dementia in the May 2009 issue of the Journal of Gerontological Nursing (Volume 35, Pages 42-52). She concluded that using a multisensory environment was able to "promote a relaxing and calm environment in the home, which helped the person with dementia attend more to their immediate surroundings, and to improve family interactions."
