Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition returns to Oakland University June 5-8
 
Rochester, Mich. – Some of the latest innovations in science and technology will be on display when Oakland University hosts the 17th annual Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition Friday, June 5, through Monday, June 8, on the corner of Walton and Adams roads.

The competition will feature more than 30 university robotics teams from across the nation. Their uniquely designed vehicles will be judged by a panel of business and technology leaders.

Teams will be evaluated in several categories, including an autonomous challenge in which their unmanned vehicles complete an obstacle course and a navigation challenge The vehicles will travel to various locations using global positioning satellite technology. Teams also will deliver presentations on the design and creation of their vehicles.

More than $20,000 in prize money is up for grabs, with Grand Awards handed out to the competition’s top three finishers. In addition, a Rookie of the Year Award will be given to the top-scoring newcomer.

Sponsors of the event include the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, General Motors, Microsoft Robotics, Raytheon and Applied Research Associates Inc.
