OU’s Executive MBA program offers concentrations in high-demand careers

Rochester, Mich. – To help business leaders stay up to date in rapidly evolving business sectors, Oakland University offers the Executive MBA program in health care management and information systems.

The program, designed for highly motivated professionals, is one of very few in the country and the only one in Michigan to offer different, but complementary concentrations.

“Students are well prepared in both the theoretical basis of management and leadership and in the practical application. The curriculum is creative and prepares graduates to be successful in a wide variety of positions,” said Dr. Ernest Yoder, vice president for medical affairs of St. John Health System. “I have personally seen the success of two OU EMBA graduates within St. John Health.”

Scott Cowsill, an entrepreneur specializing in practice management and health care contracting is a recent graduate of the program.

“The multifaceted approach of OU’s EMBA in Health Care Management provides an exceptionally valuable learning experience, as well as creates new industry relationships through dynamic interactions amongst students, facilitators, guest speakers and alumni,” he said.

“From Six Sigma and health care legal issues to writing presentations, OU’s EMBA program has brought me up to a certain level of polish that has had profound benefits on my career,” added Donna Mimikos, an administrative manager for Beaumont Hospitals “As a nurse, I had the health care experience, but I needed the business component. I got it through the EMBA program.”

Oakland is currently accepting applications for the fall 2009 term. Prospective students are encouraged to learn more at http://emba.oakland.edu or attend an information session from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 16, or from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, June 19.
