Graduate Student Steffan Puwal Publishes a Chapter of his Dissertation

What does Einstein's theory of general relativity have to do with the electrical properties of the heart? It turns out that some of the mathematical methods used in relativity apply to studying the propagation of action potentials on the heart's curved surface. Biomedical Sciences: Medical Physics graduate student Steffan Puwal examined the use of Spherical Topology in Cardiac Simulations in the April 2009 issue of the HFSP Journal (Volume 3, Pages 124-129). Collaborators included CBR member Brad Roth and Professor David Garfinkle of the Department of Physics, a renowned expert in gravitational theory.
