Oakland University will host the third annual Clinton River Water Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 21. The event will educate more than 1,400 fifth-grade students from around Oakland County on a diverse range of environmental issues, including water conservation, pollution, soil erosion and fish and wildlife management.
The students will participate in a series of interactive indoor and outdoor presentations led by volunteers from the environmental, scientific, business, academic and governmental communities. Students also will have the opportunity to select the top five OU student presenters who will receive $300 scholarships from the Office of the Provost.
The festival will provide half- and full-day experiences for attendees, with a full-day schedule consisting of five sessions, a complementary lunch and a campus tour. A half-day schedule will include up to four sessions with lunch provided. The primary sponsor of the event is Oakland Plus, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of fresh water resources.
The Clinton River Water Festival is hosted by the Department of Pre-College Programs. For more information, visit the OU Clinton River Water Festival Web page or contact Jill Osmon at (248) 370-4455.
