Eight active Alumni Admissions Ambassadors came back to OU on April 8, 2009 to connect with OU graduates during the second annual Senior Brunch. Active ambassadors took time out of their busy schedules to drive back to campus and connect with future alumni over a meal while sharing keen insight and recruiting future young alumni to become a part of the AAAP program. The AAAP and Alumni Relations partnered to host the first annual Brunch and over 100 December 2008 graduates attended the December 4 brunch and over 100 May 2009 graduates attended the second annual brunch on Wednesday, April 8 as well.
Twenty six future graduates signed up to become engaged with the AAAP on April 8 because of conversation with active ambassadors. Young alumni who return to their community and connect with their high school alma mater provide unmatched credibility to high school students, school administrators, and counselors by sharing their passion, enthusiasm, and modeling the importance of a college degree from an affordable and distinctive university.
The AAAP also offers young alumni a chance to give back to the university in a meaningful way. For example, Chris Rozanski, a Music Theatre and Dance May 2009 graduate from Troy, is headed to New York City in June 2009 to live out his dream on stage. He was excited to learn about the AAAP program and is eager to connect with his new community and share his OU experience to high school college bound students.
Biology major Megan Horner is headed to Des Moines, IA this fall for Medical School and plans to deliver recruitment materials to high schools in and around her new home and possibly attend a local college fair to connect high school students and their families with OU.
The Senior Brunch is for May and December graduates. For more information on the Senior Brunch and the Alumni Admissions Ambassador Program, contact, Luke Fleer, coordinator of the AAAP, at fleer@oakland.edu, (248) 370-4749, or visist www.oakland.edu/aaap
