OU Honors College to host premiere party, unveil academic journal

The Oakland University Honors College will host a premiere party from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 in 112 East Vandenberg Hall to celebrate the first edition of its much-anticipated academic journal. Published online, the Honors College Echo will showcase a broad body of work from Honors College students, including academic essays, short stories, poetry, music compositions, art and photography.

“We want this journal to act similarly to the Oakland Journal as a way for our fellow students to be recognized for exceptional work,” said Alysse Reynolds, co-editor-in-chief of the Honors College Echo. “We received and published some touching stories, poems and intelligent essays as well as outstanding artwork and photographs.”

Reynolds added that the journal also will serve as a valuable tool for Honors College students when they pursue careers or apply to graduate school. She hopes the OU community will show its support.

“At our premiere party, we plan on spreading the word about the Echo and letting everyone know just how talented and wonderful our fellow students are.”

The party is open to everyone and will include art displays, online viewing and refreshments.

For more information, contact the Honors College at (248) 370-4450.
