The Joint Evaluation Committee (JEC) of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has announced that the Macomb-OU INCubator will receive a $250,000 grant in support of its new business accelerator program.
One of five statewide incubators selected to receive funding, it is now $250,000 closer to the $1.68 million budget needed for the first three years of operation.
The Macomb-OU INCubator opened in October 2008 as a business support program that accelerates the successful development of start-up companies by providing entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources and services.
Located at 6555 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights, the incubator is a joint venture between Oakland University, the City of Sterling Heights and Macomb County. It will concentrate on nurturing companies focused on defense and homeland security initiatives.
