Project S.A.F.E. Streets planned for the month of April

Enforcement Dates and Times

April 9, 2009 between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
April 15, 2009 between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm
April 16, 2009 between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm

On the above dates and times, the Oakland University and Auburn Hills Police Departments will be conducting joint traffic enforcement operations.  Officers will be monitoring traffic on University Drive between Squirrel and Pontiac Roads, and Squirrel Road between Cross Creek Parkway and Walton Boulevard.  Advisory signs indicating "Traffic Enforcement Zone" will be displayed as drivers enter the enforcement area.

Officers will be enforcing all traffic laws during these details, however, special attention will be given to those who speed, follow too close, or fail to yield the right of way.  Last year, 31 crashes occurred within this area - 29% were caused by drivers unable to stop their vehicle before striking another object and 23% were caused by drivers failing to yield.

The Auburn Hills and Oakland University Police Departments are committed to providing a safe environment for those who live, work or travel through our community.  To comment on project S.A.F.E. Streets, please call AHPD Sergeant McDonnell at 248-364-6861 or OUPD Sergeant Ross at 248-370-3331.
