Registration for summer, fall classes now under way
Oakland University students looking to take advantage of the new summer semester, as well as register for fall, can do so starting Monday, March 16, even if they have outstanding tuition balances of less than $1,500. As it did for the winter 2009 semester, the university has released registration holds for students in this situation.
Students with outstanding balances must pay their previous semester bills by April 20, 2009, to avoid deregistration from all summer and fall classes.
The university offers a payment plan that allows students to spread outstanding balances over several smaller payments and budget their finances over many months. For more information on an OU Payment Plan or to enroll online, visit www.oakland.edu/payment.
Students also are reminded to pursue financial aid opportunities by completing a FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. And students who experience declining financial circumstances that put their ability to pay for college in jeopardy can call (248) 370-2550 or e-mail finaid@oakland.edu to learn whether they qualify for additional support through the university’s special tuition assistance fund.
The summer semester offers greater flexibility in scheduling and increased opportunities to complete required courses. To learn more about summer course offerings, visit www.oakland.edu/summer.
As an added convenience, students interested in locking in their schedules for fall 2009 courses can do so starting on Monday.
The registration period is prioritized by class standing, with graduate students, seniors and second degree students invited to begin on Monday. Juniors follow on Tuesday, sophomores on Wednesday, freshmen on Thursday and special graduate, non-matriculated, post-bachelor and guest students on Friday. Registration will continue through Sunday, May 3 and summer classes begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4.
Students can register online by going to the OU home page and clicking on SAIL in the top right corner. Students who wish to register on site also may do so at 100 O’Dowd Hall during office hours, which are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
For more information, visit the Registrar’s Office Web site or contact the office at (248) 370-3450 or registra@oakland.edu.
