Summit League Basketball Tournament Update – Watch parties planned!
Summit League Tournament action continued today, Monday, March 9, at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Oakland University’s No. 3 seeded men’s basketball team and No. 2 seeded women’s basketball team are competing in the semi-final round for a chance at the championship games.
The women’s basketball team defeated North Dakota State in the semi-final and will play top-seeded South Dakota State University in the title game Tuesday, March 10, at 4 p.m. EST.
The Oakland University Alumni Association invites all alumni, friends, faculty and staff to cheer on the Golden Grizzlies at a local watch party at Rochester Mills in downtown Rochester, beginning at 3:30 p.m. For those alumni and friends who are unable to join us at Rochester Mills, the women’s game will be televised on ESPNU.
If the men’s basketball team wins the semi-final round Monday night, they will compete for championship rights against either top-seeded North Dakota State University or No. 5 Southern Utah on Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST. If the men win, the men’s watch party will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Rochester Mills. The men’s game also will be televised on ESPN2.
The winner of the Summit League Championship earns an automatic NCAA Tournament berth. For the most up-to-date information on all post-season play, visit the OU Athletics Web site at www.ougrizzlies.com.
