You Can Afford This

I am pleased to update you on Oakland’s recent efforts to financially assist future college students and their families.

Due to the deteriorating economic conditions in the state, OU is making it a top priority to help students afford an OU education. We listened to the concerns of families and students, and we're responding to the needs of the community with additional gift aid that allows us to:

It’s also important to remember that OU does not charge hidden fees—a cost of up to $1,500 at other public universities. An OU education is the best investment students can make.

At OU, students will attend a doctoral/research university without the cost of one.

Finally, thank you for your contributions to the AAAP! With over 200 participants and over 275 combined hours of service, you make it possible for students in Michigan and across every state to hear personal accounts of the value of an Oakland education! Through your help, as of February 2009, OU has received applications from 44 states for fall 2009, a 54% increase in states represented in the same point in time in 2007 and 2008.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about OU’s recent initiatives to help students afford the cost of college, or to learn more about staying active in the AAAP. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Luke Fleer
