Series of events planned to support cancer research
The Oakland University community is invited to cheer on the Golden Grizzlies and support cancer awareness and research during a series of upcoming events.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association will sponsor two Pink Zone Games, which feature the OU women’s and men’s basketball teams taking on IPFW. All tickets purchased allow access to both the women's and men's game.
The first 250 fans to arrive at the O’rena on Saturday will receive breast cancer awareness and research giveaways. All breast cancer survivors will be recognized at halftime and all in attendance are encouraged to support the cause by wearing pink attire.
The women’s game starts at 3:30 p.m. and the men's game at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adult reserved seats and $5 for adult bleacher seats. Reserved seats for kids ages 2-12 and seniors age 65 and older are $8, and bleacher seats are $2. Reserved seats for faculty, staff and alumni are $8 and bleacher seats are $2. Seats in Gold Zone Section E3 are $6. For more information, visit www.ougrizzlies.com.
Following up on the weekend contests will be the 4th Annual OU Coaches vs. Cancer event on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The OU community is invited to join men's basketball Head Coach Greg Kampe, women's basketball Head Coach Beckie Francis and members of their staffs as they cook up meals at bd's Mongolian Barbeque in Auburn Hills.
Fans are encouraged to watch the guest grillers work on a 2,000-pound, 600-degree grill. All grill tips will be donated to Coaches vs. Cancer in support of cancer research. Seatings at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. are available. For more information or to make a reservation, call (248) 370-3161.
A Saturday doubleheader featuring the men's and women's basketball teams and a Tuesday event at bd's Mongolian Grill give the OU community a chance to help boost cancer awareness.
